I move around a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in EDISON NJ where I ate at Dragon Palace and I came across an interesting piece about bamboo clothing. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a great choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was very impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I found out some amazing details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
