I travel quite a lot for my work and so regularly end up eating alone in local restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in EDGEWOOD MD where I ate at Sams Delicatessen and I read an interesting cover story to do with bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent choice for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.

I must say I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a little more research I found some interesting facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
