I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having my dinner by myself in local restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in EDGEWOOD MD where I ate at Golden City Corporation and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got some pieces of clothing.
I have to say I was pretty impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some other amazing details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
