I travel quite a lot for my studies and so usually end up having dinner alone in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Recently, I was in DURHAM NC where I ate at Harris Teeter Supermarkets and I saw a really interesting cover story to do with bamboo. I did not know you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and purchased a couple pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found some more amazing details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
