I travel a lot for my work and so usually end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in DUBUQUE IA where I ate at Dougherty's and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent option for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a few pieces of clothing.

I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a bit more research I found some more interesting pieces of information about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, throws, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
