I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having my dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in DIKE IA where I ate at Michael's Pizzeria & Grille and I came across a new cover story to do with bamboo. I had no idea you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great option for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
Find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After a little more research I discovered some other interesting pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
