I travel a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner by myself in local restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in DICKSON TN where I ate at Baymont Inn & Suites - Dickson and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a few items of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
