I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in DALLAS TX where I ate at Mama's Pizza and I came across a really interesting article about bamboo clothes. I did not know you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a few pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
Check out the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After some more research I discovered some interesting details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
