I move around a lot for my work and so often end up eating by myself in restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in COXSACKIE NY where I ate at Bonfare and I came across an interesting piece about bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a excellent option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a few items of clothing.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I think is great. I also noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.
After some more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
