I move around a lot for my studies and so usually end up eating alone in local restaurants. I often take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in COVENTRY CT where I ate at Bickfords Family Fare and I read a new cover story about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a great option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I must tell you I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a bit more research I found out some other amazing facts to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
