I travel a lot for my work and so often end up having dinner alone in local restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Recently, I was in CONSHOHOCKEN PA where I ate at Pizza Time Saloon and I came across a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and purchased a couple items of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found some more interesting details to do with bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
