I move around a lot for my job and so often end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in COLLEGE STATION TX where I ate at Black Eyed Pea and I read a really interesting article about bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.

I should tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I took it from the washing machine which I found to be great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic clothes stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.

After a bit more research I found out some more interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo needs only a small amount of water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
