I travel a lot for my work and so often end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in COBDEN IL where I ate at The Pizza Place and I read an interesting cover story about bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got some items of clothing.
I must admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more amazing pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
