I move around a lot for my job and so usually end up eating by myself in restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in CLINTON NC where I ate at Farm House Restaurant and I came across an interesting piece to do with bamboo. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought some items of clothing.
I should admit I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was incredible. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I found out some amazing details on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
