I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up eating alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in CLARKSVILLE TN where I ate at Hunan Garden Chinese Restaurant and I came across a new piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. I also noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some interesting facts to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
