I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having my dinner all alone in restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in City State where I ate at Name and I came across a really interesting article to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and bought a couple items of clothing.

I should say I was pretty impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After some more research I discovered some other incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
