I travel quite a lot for my work and so usually end up eating by myself in restaurants. I often take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in CHICAGO IL where I ate at Corner Bakery Cafe and I saw an interesting piece on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and bought some pieces of clothing.

I should admit I was extremely impressed. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a bit more research I discovered some incredible pieces of information on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
