I travel a lot for my job and so often end up having dinner by myself in restaurants. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in CHICAGO IL where I ate at Subway Sandwich and Salads and I read an interesting piece to do with bamboo clothes. I had no idea you could make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I must tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I found to be great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some incredible pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
