I travel quite a lot for my job and so regularly end up eating all alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in CHICAGO IL where I ate at Mitchells Lou Restaurant and I read a new cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I did not know you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a excellent possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought some items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some other amazing facts to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
