I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in CHEYENNE WY where I ate at L'Osteria Mondello Italian Cucina and I read a really interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good option for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and purchased a few basic items of clothing.
I have to tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
Check out the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After some more research I found out some incredible details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
