I travel quite a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner by myself in restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in CHARLESTON SC where I ate at Gilroy's Pizza Pub and I came across an interesting cover story to do with bamboo clothing. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a excellent option for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a couple pieces of clothing.
I should admit I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found some interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
