I move around a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in cafes. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in CEDAR RAPIDS IA where I ate at American Skillet and I saw an interesting piece to do with bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a excellent option for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I found some other interesting facts about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, blankets, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
