I travel a lot for my studies and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in CARBONDALE IL where I ate at Hunan Village and I saw an interesting piece to do with bamboo. I did not know you could make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and bought a few pieces of clothing.

I have to tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After some more research I found out some other interesting pieces of information about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo needs little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I try to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
