I travel a lot for my studies and so usually end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in CARBONDALE CO where I ate at City Market Food & Pharmacy - Deli and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a few pieces of clothing.

I have to admit I was pretty impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a little more research I found some interesting facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, blankets, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
