I move around a lot for my work and so often end up eating alone in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in BROOKLYN NY where I ate at Balsamo Frank and I saw an interesting piece on bamboo clothing. I did not know you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a excellent choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and got some pieces of clothing.
I have to admit I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I think is great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some other incredible pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
