I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating all alone in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in BROOKLYN NY where I ate at Creamland Dairies and I read an interesting article about bamboo. I did not know you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great choice for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and got a couple items of clothing.
I should tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a little more research I found out some incredible pieces of information about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
