I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up having dinner all alone in restaurants. I usually take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BROOKLYN NY where I ate at Sunflower Grocery Inc and I came across an interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a great option for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I looked online and got a couple pieces of clothing.

I must admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are plenty of organic clothes stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.

After a bit more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
