I travel a lot for my work and so often end up eating alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in BRONX NY where I ate at J M M Food Corporation and I read an interesting cover story on bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a excellent possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got a couple items of clothing.
I have to say I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a little more research I found some interesting pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo requires very little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
