I travel quite a lot for my work and so regularly end up eating by myself in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BRILLIANT OH where I ate at Gram's Kitchen and I saw a really interesting article on bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a excellent possibility for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should say I was very impressed. The fabric really is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry when I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After a little more research I discovered some incredible facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as sheets, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
