I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BRADENTON FL where I ate at Sunny Wok and I saw a really interesting article about bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a great possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by this article so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to admit I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I think is amazing. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I discovered some other incredible facts about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
