I move around a lot for my work and so regularly end up having dinner all alone in cafes. I like to take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Recently, I was in BOSTON MA where I ate at Maithai and I came across a new cover story about bamboo clothes. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym wear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a couple pieces of clothing.
I must tell you I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I thought was incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.
After some more research I found some more incredible details on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo needs very little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as robes, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
