I move around a lot for my job and so usually end up eating alone in cafes. I often take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BILOXI MS where I ate at Landry's Seafood House and I read a new cover story on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good possibility for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by this article so I had to find out if this was really the case. I looked online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.
I have to admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was pretty much dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I found some more incredible pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Plus bamboo needs little water during the growing period so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as sheets, socks, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
