I travel quite a lot for my studies and so regularly end up eating alone in cafes. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. Last week, I was in BETHESDA MD where I ate at Taco Mex and I came across a really interesting piece about bamboo. I had no idea you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a excellent choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and purchased a few items of clothing.
I should say I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I found to be incredible. I also noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate ironing.
After a little more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as robes, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
