I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BEND OR where I ate at Marcellos Italian Cuisine and Pizzeria and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a great possibility for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I went online and bought a few items of clothing.

I must admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not necessarily need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can get organic cotton clothes as well bamboo linen.

After some more research I found out some interesting facts on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the growing period which means they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find more details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
