I travel a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in BARNEGAT LIGHT NJ where I ate at Barnegat Light Deli and I saw a really interesting article on bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a excellent possibility for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased a couple items of clothing.
I must say I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some other interesting details about bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Plus bamboo requires little water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco-friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
