I move around a lot for my job and so regularly end up having my dinner all alone in local restaurants. I often take a book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in BAR HARBOR ME where I ate at Ocean Drive Dairy Bar and I came across an interesting article on bamboo clothing. I had no idea you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent making it a good option for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.
I should tell you I was extremely happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was pretty much dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I think is great. I also noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some incredible details about bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo needs very little water during the growth period so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make eco friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
