I move around a lot for my studies and so often end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in BALTIMORE MD where I ate at O Taste and See LLC and I came across an interesting cover story about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great choice for gym wear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by what I had discovered so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got some pieces of clothing.
I must say I was pretty impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After a bit more research I discovered some other interesting details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, blankets, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find some details on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
