I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having my dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in ATLANTA GA where I ate at ROXX Tavern and Grill and I read an interesting article about bamboo. I did not realise you are able to make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is an excellent quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent making it a good option for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a couple pieces of clothing.
I must say I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry after I took it from the washing machine which I think is amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is what I look for as I hate ironing.
After some more research I discovered some more interesting facts about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows very fast which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the time it grows which means they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find more information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
