I move around a lot for my work and so often end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in ARNOLD NE where I ate at D JS and I read a really interesting cover story about bamboo clothes. I had no idea you can make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. For example, bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a great possibility for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and purchased a few items of clothing.

I have to tell you I was extremely impressed. The fabric really is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

After a bit more research I found some other interesting facts on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growth period which means they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I can. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find some articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
