I travel a lot for my job and so regularly end up eating by myself in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. Last week, I was in ARLINGTON VA where I ate at Lost Dog Cafe and I saw an interesting piece on bamboo. I had no idea you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than organic cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and hypoallergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent so it is a good choice for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I went online and bought a couple basic items of clothing.

I should admit I was very happy with what I bought. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was pretty much dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.

After some more research I found out some more amazing details to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. As well as that, bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find more information on bamboo here and good info about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
