I travel quite a lot for my work and so usually end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a novel or magazine with me to help pass the time. The other day, I was in ARDMORE PA where I ate at Irene's Charcuterie and I read an interesting cover story on bamboo. I did not realise you could make clothing out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some great qualities. It turns out bamboo clothing is softer than organic cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in a fabric. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent which means it is a good possibility for gym gear or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I went online and purchased some basic items of clothing.

I must tell you I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric really is soft, similar to silk. It was almost dry after I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was great. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is a quality I look for as I hate doing ironing.

You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic clothing stores where you can purchase organic cotton clothes as well bamboo towels.

After a bit more research I discovered some other incredible facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo requires only a small amount of water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.

I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as sheets, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.

You can find more articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
