I move around a lot for my work and so usually end up having dinner alone in restaurants. I like to take a novel or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in ARAB AL where I ate at Panda III Chinese Food and I saw an interesting cover story on bamboo. I had no idea you can make clothes out of bamboo.

Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a good option for gym clothes or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if it was true. I searched online and purchased a couple basic items of clothing.

I should say I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be incredible. I also noticed is that it did not necessarily need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.

After a little more research I found some more interesting details about bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows incredibly quickly which means it does not need fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses only a small amount of water during the time it grows meaning they can survive droughts.

I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothing and other products such as towels, underwear, rugs, and baby clothes.

You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
