I travel a lot for my job and so often end up eating by myself in cafes. I like to take a good book or magazine with me to help pass the time. Last week, I was in ALEXANDRIA LA where I ate at Julia's Mexican Restaurant and I saw a new cover story on bamboo clothing. I did not realise you can make clothing out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent which means it is a good choice for gym gear or even as bamboo towels. I was interested by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I looked online and got a couple pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, kind of like silk. It was almost dry when I removed it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need much ironing. I do not know if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is a quality I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a little more research I found out some amazing pieces of information to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows very rapidly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I do my best to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, curtains, and baby clothes.
You can find more details on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and the benefits of organic products.
