I travel quite a lot for my studies and so often end up having my dinner alone in local restaurants. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in ALBUQUERQUE NM where I ate at Asahi Teriyaki and I read a really interesting piece to do with bamboo. I had no idea you can make clothes out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some great qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent which means it is a great option for gym clothes or also as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by what I had discovered so I had to find out if it was true. I went online and got a few basic items of clothing.
I should say I was extremely impressed with the quality. The fabric definitely is soft, kind of like silk. It was close to being dry as soon as I took it from the washing machine which I thought was amazing. The other thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothing is like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
After some more research I discovered some incredible details to do with bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows extremely fast which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not need pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco-friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so for me it is the number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of articles on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
