I travel quite a lot for my job and so often end up having my dinner by myself in cafes. I often take a good book or magazine with me to prevent boredom. The other day, I was in AKRON OH where I ate at Bahas Waterloo Restaurant & Catering and I came across a really interesting piece to do with bamboo clothing. I did not realise you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. I found out bamboo fabric and clothing is softer than most cotton. They say it is antibacterial and hypo-allergenic. That is a fantastic quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is extremely absorbent so it is a good option for gym wear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by these claims so I had to find out for myself. I searched online and got some basic items of clothing.
I must tell you I was pretty happy with what I bought. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry after I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be incredible. Another thing I noticed is that it did not particularly need ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is what I look for as I can not stand ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are numerous organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a little more research I found some incredible facts on bamboo. It is generally organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires very little water during the growth period meaning they can survive droughts.
I try to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for clothes and other products such as towels, socks, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
