I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner all alone in local restaurants. I often take a novel or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in ABERDEEN MD where I ate at Grumpys Bar & Grill and I saw an interesting piece about bamboo clothes. I did not know you could make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some amazing qualities. It turns out bamboo fabric is softer than most cotton. They also say it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothing. Bamboo clothing is very absorbent so it is a good choice for gym clothes or even as bamboo towels. I was fascinated by what I had discovered so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and purchased a few pieces of clothing.
I should tell you I was very impressed. The fabric absolutely is soft, similar to silk. It was close to being dry when I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be amazing. I also noticed is that it did not really require ironing. I am not sure if all bamboo fabric is like that but it is something I look for as I hate ironing.
After a bit more research I found out some incredible pieces of information on bamboo. It is almost always organic. It grows incredibly rapidly which means it does not require fertilisers and they do not require pesticides either. Also bamboo requires little water during the time it grows so they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make environmentally friendly choices whenever I do my shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable so it is my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as towels, underwear, throws, and baby clothes.
You can find plenty of information on bamboo here and good points about organic farming and how to choose organic produce.
