I travel a lot for my job and so usually end up having dinner alone in cafes. I usually take a good book or magazine with me to make me feel less alone. The other day, I was in FORT WORTH TX where I ate at Rickshaw Chinese Restaurant and I came across a new article about bamboo clothing. I did not realise you are able to make fabric out of bamboo.
Bamboo has some fantastic qualities. For example, bamboo fabric is softer than regular cotton. Apparently it is antibacterial and good for you if you suffer from allergies. That is a great quality to have in clothes. Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent making it a great choice for gym gear or possibly as bamboo towels. I was intrigued by these claims so I had to find out if this was really the case. I searched online and purchased a couple items of clothing.
I must admit I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric absolutely is soft, not unlike silk. It was almost dry as soon as I took it out of the washing machine which I found to be great. Another thing I noticed is that it did not really need ironing. I I am unaware if all bamboo clothes are like that but it is something I look for as I hate doing ironing.
You can find the latest bamboo clothes here or there are many organic apparel stores where you can buy organic cotton clothes as well bamboo sheets.
After a little more research I found some more amazing facts on bamboo. It is a product which is organic. It grows extremely quickly which means it does not need any fertilisers and they do not use pesticides either. Also bamboo uses very little water during the growing period meaning they can survive droughts.
I attempt to make eco friendly choices whenever I go shopping. Bamboo is organic, renewable, and sustainable making it my number one choice for t-shirts and other products such as robes, socks, rugs, and baby clothes.
You can find some articles on bamboo here and good information about organic farming and why to buy organic products.
